Because the Scouts of Troop 125 are cadets of Fork Union Military Academy, they are members of two institutions steeped in tradition that promote character development, citizenship training, leadership, and mental and physical fitness.  (For more information about the Academy, please visit Fork Union Military Academy). Scouting is an integral part of the FUMA experience and is available to both Middle and Upper School students. Both the President of FUMA, Rear Admiral J. Burhoe, and the Academic Dean, COL Bob Miller are Eagle Scouts.

Troop 125, while charted by and located on the Academy's campus, is not a school club or organization, but is subject to the Provisions of the Charter and Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Boy Scouts of America.

Some of the pictues taken during Scouting activities will be posted here at this site as space permits, but all of them will be posted on FUMA's website.

ADVANCEMENT and MERIT BADGES

Advancement opportunities are made available to Scouts at meetings and activities. In addition, because adult leaders are also staff, instructors and athletic coaches at the academy, advancement meetings with adult leaders are easy to schedule. Merit Badge Counsellors are located on campus, but are limited (MB Counsellors are available for all Eagle-required MB's). For this reason, and because the Scouting program is suspended through the summer, we encourage Scouts to attend Boy Scout summer camp for further advancement and Merit Badge opportunities. Summer Camp is also an integral aspect of the Scouting experience. A good place to start looking for information about Boy Scout summer camp is scouter.com.

To see the tasks required for each level of advancement a blank Individual History Data Collection Form has been provided for your perusal.
